The wonderful sound ...

Michelle had an appointment on Friday. I sent along one of my digital recorders with her so she could record the baby's heart beat for me (since I hadn't heard it yet). This was actually my SECOND attempt to get the heart beat but I gave her a broken recorder the first time (I checked the batteries .. I just didn't check the record button). Anyway ... here it is .... It's a wonderful sound. Give me chills just to listen to it ...

You can listen to it here

The baby chain ...

Remember when the kids were small and you made them a "Christmas chain" so they could cut off one chainlink everyday until it was Christmas? Well .. I made myself a BABY CHAIN. Same concept only I had to actually date each link because I knew I was going to forget to cut days off and then I would have to count backwards to get back on track. It's a silly thing but I had fun doing it.

The things one does when they are going to be a grandma!!!!!!

Who's "OOC" (out of control) now ...

I had to post this because I am not the only one who is buying the baby things. Edwin was so proud that he found this little Raider outfit for the baby. It took him quite a while to decide between the two outfits he liked (personally I would have bought both). Don't let him fool you, he is as "OOC" as I am. Here is a picture of the Raiders outfit ... it will be a while before you actually see it on the baby since Edwin bought the 12-month size.

So many baby things ... so little time

There are so many things the kids need to get for the baby and so many decisions on which ones to buy. The kids are really good about researching which products are the safest (not to mention trendy) so I just sit back and watch it all unfold. So far the kids have gotten their stroller (Bugaboo), high chair (Tripp Trapp), and infant car seat (Graco).

Luckily Hui-Hui (Cindy & Paul's little girl) came out for a visit so she gave everything a "test ride". She absolutely LOVED the Bugaboo stroller. She enjoyed playing with the carseat and testing it out with her bear.

We had a great time watching Hui-Hui using all the baby goodies. I think Hui-Hui had a good time too.

The kids are still looking for their crib, furniture, bassinet, glider, and a bunch o
f other things. Whew ... things have really changed since WE had our kids. Was it really THAT long ago???

Trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium

Edwin & I decided to take a much-deserved weekend away and go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (one of our favorite places). Who would have thought the weekend would turn into a "gold mine" of baby goodies. We stopped at the Gilroy Outlets on the way down and went to Osh Kosh, The Children's Place, and Carters. Oh my what a fun time we had. Edwin wanted to go to the toy outlet and buy a trike, but we decided it was a LITTLE early for that. With our bags full we decided we better leave and head to the Residence Inn.

I have discovered that buying clothes for a little boy can be fun too (I was worried about not shopping for all the cute pink stuff).

The Aquarium was fun and I searched the whole place for a Aquarium bib but they didn't have one ... so I settled for a little "Otter blankie" instead. So cute.

You'll be happy to know that I controlled myself and didn't go to the Outlets in Monterey for baby stuff ... until next time.

IT'S OFFICIAL ...

Michelle had an ultrasound appointment at 2:45 p.m. today. Edwin & I are waiting for the cell
phone to ring. Finally around 3:15 p.m., the phone rings. I am on the phone with Michelle while Brandon is on the cell phone with his mom. The kids count down in unison, "5 ... 4.... 3.... 2.....1 .... IT'S A BOY". We finally hear the exciting news we have been waiting for. Woowoo ... we're going to have a grandson!!!! Now I can concentrate on boy clothes and goodies. Of course this means I will have to get rid of the lavendar daisy shoes, black little shoes, lavendar bib, and pink Disney hat that I already bought (hahaha ... OOC). ok ... back in the box until I can use them.

Laura & Sharon go to CHA

Laura & I went to Anaheim to attend the 2008 CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) Convention. Our first stop ... BABIES R US!!!!!! Though we still don't know the sex of the baby, we had a great time browsing through the WHOLE store (I think we spent over two hours there). We looked at little girls clothes, little boy clothes, unisex clothes, and all the accessories you could possibly want. We tried not to buy anything but I found something the baby could not do without ... A reindeer snowsuit to wear to keep warm while going out Christmas shopping. So cute. I told Laura if the baby was a girl, I would just add red & white ribbons and a red tu-tu on it. We had so much fun "window shopping" for baby goodies.

While attending CHA, Laura & I made baby bibs (the booth was making either bibs or onesies). I made the purple one and Laura made the green one. They were fun to make although they weren't exactly "beautiful". We had fun and laughed the whole time. I also made a "Winnie the Pooh" box in case the baby wants to store some memories in there.

We ran into Donna Dewberry and let her know that we would NOT be attending her convention this July as "we were going to be grandmas" around that time. We knew that she would understand and we told her we would see her next year.

Last but not least, we made "CRAFTY GRANDMA" t-shirts for both Laura & me. WE HAD A GREAT TIME (we always do).

Oh yeah .. I think we set a record for how many different Curry Houses you can eat at in six days (we ate at three of them). Yummmmm.
